In its weekend road trip to Hawaii, Oregon women’s tennis took home its fifth consecutive win. On Sunday, the Ducks defeated Hawaii 4-3 in a match that came down to the last court still in session.

“We had a very hard-fought weekend,” head coach Alison Silverio said in an interview with GoDucks. “It was encouraging to see our doubles moving in the right direction.”

The Ducks are now 7-2 this season and are preparing to make their way back to Eugene for their last non-conference game next weekend.

In today’s match, Oregon scooped up the doubles point on courts one and two before switching to singles action.

The Warriors struck back in singles, defeating Kennan Johnson and Nia Rose and taking the 2-1 lead. Alyssa Tobita tied the score at two with a win on No. 3 to keep the match close.

With three courts still in play, the first team to earn two more would win the match.

It was freshman Shweta Sangwan who gave Oregon the 3-2 advantage before another defeat tied the score once again at three.

Daniela Nasser earned the match-winning point on No. 6 with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 victory to secure Oregon the 4-3 win.

After three weeks away, the Ducks will return to Eugene next weekend to take on Boise State at 11:00 a.m.
