Oregon senior forward Jillian Alleyne was tabbed Pac-12 co-Player of the Year on Wednesday by media members who cover women’s basketball.
Alleyne received the honor along with Oregon State’s Jamie Weisner, who received player of the year honors from the league’s coaches on Monday.
The Fontana, California native is the third Duck in UO history to earn Pac-12 player of the year recognition: Shaquala Williams (2000) and Lauri Landerholm (1987).
Alleyne, who tore her ACL last week during practice, ranks No. 2 in NCAA history with 92 double-doubles and No. 3 with 1,712 rebounds.
“If they made a poster for the consummate student-athlete, citizen, or human being, it would have Jillian’s picture on it,” Graves said during senior day celebrations on Feb. 21. “She’s amazing in every sense of the word.”
She tallied 2,151 points in 120 career games and owns both the Oregon and Pac-12 career rebounding records. She’s one of 10 players in NCAA women’s basketball history to notch 2,000+ points and 1,500+ rebounds.
Alleyne was named all-Pac-12 and all-defense by the media as well. Oregon freshman Maite Cazorla earned all-freshman honors from the coaches and media.
Cal’s Kristine Anigwe earned freshman of the year honors and Oregon State’s Ruth Hamblin was voted Pac-12 defensive player of the year.
The Ducks take on Arizona Thursday at 2 p.m. in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament in Seattle.
