To start your Monday morning off right, here are just a few things circulating around campus this week, including Frontier Fiesta’s Family Fun Day, an International Film Festival and a visit from Emmy Award winner Juju Chang.

Monday through Wednesday: International Film Festival

Monday noon to Wednesday 9 p.m.

Student Center South Theater

The International Film Festival will provide a cultural space to celebrate diversity through the exposition of different global movies. Three days, with three films each day, will promote various culture heritages by showing films from different nations to UH students.

Monday: Funding Opportunities at the National Science Foundation

1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Classroom and Business Building Room 110

NanoBioSensing National Science Foundation program director Raj Mutharasan will provide an overview of the NSF, funding opportunities within the organization, with a special focus on engineering, and proposal evaluation methods.

He will also discuss core disciplinary programs, the NSF CAREER Award program and other special initiatives. Come prepared for a good interactive session and bring questions.

Wednesday: Juju Chang talks about “The Power of Your Story”

5:30 to 8 p.m.

Agnes Arnold Hall Room 110

The National Society of Leadership and Success invited Juju Chang to speak to students about her role as an Emmy Award-winning co-anchor of ABC News’ “Nightline and what makes for a compelling story. She also reports regularly for “Good Morning America and “20/20, covering breaking news and global events.

Born in Seoul, South Korea and raised in California, Chang graduated with honors from Stanford University with a bachelor of arts in political science and communication. Chang began her career at ABC News as a desk assistant and eventually became a producer at World News Tonight.

Thursday: Diversity 101 Workshop

12:30 to 1 p.m.

Student Center South, Downtown Room 261

The workshop will discuss the meaning of diversity and explore the multiple diversities that exist within our society. Participants will also identify the relevance of one’s cultural identities and leave with an enhanced understanding of how to embrace diversity in order to work more effectively across differences.

Saturday: The 26th Annual Spring Egg Hunt

9 to 11:30 p.m.

UH Lynn Eusan Park

The Staff Council, Faculty Senate and SGA will host an anticipated crowd of over 500 attendees for an egg hunt. Donated game prizes will be given to participating UH families.

Additional donations include a free taquito breakfast for volunteers, courtesy of Whataburger Restaurants; free lunch of hot dogs, chips and drinks for all attendees while supplies last.

After the Egg Hunt activities, there will be free entertainment and games at Frontier Fiesta’s Family Fun Day event, with face painting, wax hands, carnival booths and a variety of shows.
