In its final regular season meet of the year, the Oregon acrobatics and tumbling team set a program-best overall score of 291.480-284.720 in a win over No. 5 Azusa Pacific Monday night.

Oregon’s final score is the program’s best since visiting Fairmont State in 2012 and gives the program considerable momentum heading into the NCATA Championships later this month.

The No. 2-ranked Ducks started strong with their second overall score of 10 in the toss heat.

Oregon led with a 39.00-38.65 win in compulsories and continued to push ahead. It tied the host in the 5-element with a 9.85 and won the 6-element with a 9.90-9.75 score. The Ducks took the 7-element 9.75-9.70 for a 29.50-29.30 win.

In the pyramid event, the Cougars bounced back for a 29.70-29.55 win. Leading into half, Oregon had a 98.05-97.65 lead.

The Ducks notched season-highs in the final three events to ice the win. Oregon once again erased its season-high in the first event out of the intermission with a 29.55 win over Azusa’s 28.80.

In the tumbling event, the Ducks posted a season-high of 58.45, thanks in large part to strong showings in the triple pass (9.60), quad pass (9.20), aerial pass (9.90) and open pass (9.90).

Oregon cruised to victory in the team event, knocking off its previous season-best 0f 101.46 with a 105.43 win.

The program next heads to Waco, Texas for the NCATA Championships this month. Individual event finals begin April 16. The team championship will take place from April 17-19.
