Women’s lacrosse coach steps down, top QB recruit decommits from Oregon

– Jen Beck, the women’s lacrosse coach, stepped down on Monday. Beck, the programs first coach, took the helm in 2005 and lead the Ducks to a 120-97 record during her time as a coach. The athletic department did not site a reason to her departure.

– Oregon football commit Ryan Kelley, the top rated quarterback recruit in the class of 2017, announced on Twitter Tuesday night that he has decommitted from the university. Kelley was the top rated quarterback commit in Oregon program history. He threw for 3,070 yards and 28 touchdowns his junior year.

– The NCAA men’s and women’s national golf championships are slated to be held at the Eugene Country Club this year. Casey Martin, the Oregon men’s head coach, was uncertain if the country club would be willing to host such an event and forfeit weeks of membership playing time. But general manager Rich Spurlin and head groundskeeper Chris Gaughan were more than happy to take on the challenge. Now they must prepare their course for the largest stage in collegiate golf.

– When the San Francisco 49ers drafted DeForest Buckner with the seventh pick of the draft this year, he joined Arik Armstead on the 49ers front line. Buckner and Armstead represent two-thirds of Oregon’s 2014 starting defensive line. The only one missing was Alex Balducci. Now, the trio is complete. On Tuesday, Balducci signed with the 49ers. All three will play under former head coach Chip Kelley and defensive line coach Jerry Azzinaro

– The women’s golf team starts has made the NCAA Regionals for the ninth straight season. Last week, they were awarded the five seed in the Baton Rouge regional in Louisiana. Oregon heads south with a strong five person roster, including two freshman standouts. They open their first round of play on Thursday.
