— After an 8-0 sweep of Fordham on Friday, No. 4 Oregon softball downed Baylor, 6-0, in the NCAA regionals to advance to the finals. On Sunday, the Ducks beat the Bears once more, 8-1, to claim the regional title.
“We had good film, we had good preparation and practices … we just wanted to pass the bat, and that’s what we did today,” Koral Costa said.
— Oregon baseball’s Pac-12 title hopes faded Sunday when the Ducks fell 5-4 to Arizona in the series finale. The loss means Oregon must earn an at-large bid in order to make the NCAA tournament. The Ducks are 28-23, 14-13 Pac-12 as they head to Stanford next week for their last regular season series.
— Women’s golf senior Caroline Inglis set a course record at the Eugene Country Club on Saturday with a 65 in the NCAA tournament. The score hiked Oregon up the boards to fifth place from 15th and jumped Inglis, individually, to a fourth place tie for the round. Teammate Cathleen Santoso shot par in the first round and 70 for the day Saturday.
— After dominating the Pac-12 Championships in both mens and womens and earning conference honors, Oregon track and field is preparing for the NCAA regionals in Kansas next weekend before returning to Eugene for the NCAA championships in June. Women’s sprints are expected to make a splash for the Ducks after they swept the Pac-12 100 and 200 meters.
— Hayward Field will host next year’s Pac-12 Track and Field Championships after OSU requested a venue change, citing lack of necessities for the event.
“Ultimately we felt as though Oregon was the best option and the most convenient for this year. We all know they know how to host big-time meets,” Sean Harris, the Pac-12 championships and sports management coordinator said in an interview with the Register-Guard.
— Former Oregon QB Vernon Adams was signed by the Canadian Football League’s Montreal Alouettes this past weekend. Adams was traded from the CFL team the B.C. Lions in exchange for a first-round draft pick in 2017.
