Federal Judge Keith Ellison on Friday granted a temporary injunction on the Houston College of Law, citing that the school’s name had enough likeness to cause confusion with and jeopardize the reputation of the UH Law Center.
UH sued Houston College of Law in June over the latter’s name change and adoption of red and white as its school colors.
The contentious debate has hinged on the determination of whether the Houston College of Law willfully infringed on UH Law Center’s academic reputation and ranking to boost its own ranking.
Ellison set a hearing next Wednesday. The two schools will meet again in court.
