Back and forth play throughout the first half concluded at halftime, when the sides remained deadlocked at 0-0. Oregon goalkeeper Halla Hinriksdottir had a big save midway through the first half to help keep the game scoreless through 45 minutes.

In the second half, Cal came out firing, and the Ducks defense simply could not adapt to the strategy adjustments made by the Golden Bears head coach Neil McGuire. Cal would score all three of their goals in an 11-minute span.

The first, came just eigth minutes after the start of the second half from sophomore forward Abi Kim, helping the Golden Bears take the lead and increase Kim’s season total to seven. The goal came off of a well-placed assist from Kelly Fitzgerald before it was drilled into the bottom left area of the net.

Five minutes later, Cal converted on a corner kick from the right side. After the ball was played in, it took multiple deflections before landing over the chest of junior Miranda Nild, and was drilled into the net with her left foot.

Cal’s offensive serge would not stop there, as Mia Corbin joined in on the scoring in the 63rd minute with a goal of her own, extending the Golden Bears lead to three.

After the goals, Hinriksdottir was subbed out for sophomore Kaetlyn Carter.

The Cal Golden Bears record is now 12-2-1, putting them one game back from the nation’s No. 2-ranked UCLA, which sits third in Pac-12.

As for Oregon, they now prepare to play the only team still below them in the Pac-12 standings: Utah. The Ducks square off against the Utes on Thurs., Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. PT in Eugene.
