Oregon baseball signs eight 2018 recruits to open early National Signing period

Eight players signed their National Letter of Intent to the Oregon baseball program as part of the 2018 recruiting class on Wednesday. Here’s a quick look at each player:

James Bell, a 6-foot-1-inch, 205-pound catcher and outfielder from Clovis North High School in Fresno, California. During his junior season, he played 24 games with a .352 batting average to go with a .440 on-base percentage. He had 25 hits, 19 RBIs and 14 runs.

Kyle Froemke, a 6-foot-2-inch, 170-pound shortstop and right-handed pitcher from Round Rock HS, in Round Rock, Texas. He is listed as a 2017 Perfect Game Preseason High Honorable Mention for the three Preseason High School Underclassman All-American teams.

Keaton Chase, a 6-foot, 165-pound pitcher from Helix High School in La Mesa, California. Last season he pitched 47.2 innings with a 2.50 ERA and 29 strikeouts and held opponents to a .220 batting average.

Christian Cluffetelli, a 5-foot-11-inch, 160-pound right-handed pitcher, attended Servite High School in Anaheim, California. He joins the Ducks along with his high school teammate Tanner Smith, a 5-foot-11-inch, 180-pound outfielder and pitcher.

Cameron Barstad, a 6-foot-1-inch, 180-pound catcher and outfielder from Serra High School in San Mateo, California. In 30 games last season, Barstad had a .288 batting average with 23 hits and 19 RBIs. He had 11 runs scored with a .438 on-base percentage.

A pair of teammates from Mater Dei High School in Newport Coast, California, joined the Ducks as well. Maxwell Foxcroft, a 5-foot-7-inch, 160-pound, multiple position player, joins his teammate Vinny Tosti a 6-foot, 190 pound outfielder as the eighth and final player to announce his signing.  Foxcroft hit .308 with 33 hits and 17 RBIs last season. He scored 24 runs with a .426 on-base percentage. Tosti was named to the second team Preseason Underclass All-America team and is the No. 54 ranked prospect according to Perfect Game.

The season begins on February 16 as part of a tournament in Las Vegas, Nevada.
