Cal men’s basketball assistant Theo Robertson remains on leave one month later
Cal men’s basketball assistant coach Theo Robertson is still on a leave of absence a little less than a month after his initial departure, with some close to the team saying he will not return.
Robertson was seen on the sidelines during Cal’s 92-82 loss to Wichita State on Nov. 20, 2017, the first game of the Maui Invitational, but was absent in the subsequent two games.
Cal Athletics stated at the time that Director of Operations Keith Brown would serve as the program’s third assistant in the interim.
Cal Athletics spokesperson Mara Rudolph reiterated in an email that Roberson is on a leave of absence and there is “no further update” from the initial report.
Robertson, a Cal alum, played for the Bears for four seasons, from 2005-06 to 2009-10, and lead the team to a Pac-12 title in 2010. Before he returned to Cal this season, Robertson worked with the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers.
