Ingredients:
5 cups whole milk
1 cup half and half cream
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup mini marshmallows
Instructions:
For this simple recipe, in a 2.5-4 quart crockpot whisk together the milk, cream, sugar, chocolate chips, and cocoa powder until the cocoa powder is dissolved.
Then, turn the crock on low for 2 hours until the chocolate is melted and the hot chocolate is piping hot.
Stir in the vanilla and put the mini marshmallows on top. Cover the crockpot, turn it off, and let it sit for 5 minutes to allow the marshmallows to soften, if desired.
Once you’ve poured a mug, you can also add various optional (but highly recommended) toppings. A few options are whipped cream, candy canes chocolate or caramel syrup, or anything else yummy you would like to add.
Serve and enjoy a delicious cup of hot cocoa on these cold winter days.
Commentary:
I was at a friend’s house last semester and she had made hot chocolate in her crockpot, and by the first sip I was addicted.
I have always enjoyed hot chocolate during the colder months, and this creamy cocoa is always sure to fulfil my cravings for the drink.
I would definitely recommend adding lots and lots of toppings as well!
