It’s only been a few days since Cal secured commitments from 5-star’s Fatou Samb and Ugonne Onyiah, and they’ve already landed their third 5-star recruit for the class of 2020 in Dalayah Daniels.

The 6’4” forward is the highest ranked recruit yet, coming in at an incredible 14th in the nation and 2nd at her position according to ESPN. She plays for Garfield High School in Auburn, Washington. Her versatile skill set will be a big addition to the team next year.

A July 2019 review says Daniels is an “Athletic interior prospect with quickness in the paint; baseline attacker finishes plays in the lane over defenders; mobile in uptempo game; a skilled front court performer in the class of 2020.”

New head coach Charmin Smith hasn’t even coached a game yet and is already making her mark on Cal Women’s Basketball. With the team in a rebuilding phase after losing 4 of 5 starters to graduation, this stellar string of recruiting will go a long way towards future success of the program.
