Thousands of people have flooded the streets of Austin to protest police brutality and the deaths of George Floyd, Mike Ramos and Breonna Taylor.
The Daily Texan compiled a list of funds and nonprofits providing resources for protesters and the Black community for students who may either want to donate or need financial support.
400+1 Bail Fund
400+1 is a nonprofit dedicated to preserving the Black experience. They have teams located all around the country, including one in Austin. During this time, the Austin team is providing bail funds and has set up food and supply stations for protesters.
Mutual Aid Collective
Mutual Aid Collective is run by UT students and was started to support their peers through the pandemic. Their funds are now being used to buy supplies to distribute during protests and provide bail and medical funds.

Supplies for Protesters
This fund was set up by an Austinite who is raising money to provide face masks, gloves, water and additional supplies to protesters in Austin. According to their GoFundMe description, they plan to pass them out during future protests.
Austin Justice Coalition
According to their website, the Austin Justice Coalition has been committed to improving the lives of people of color in Austin since 2015 by advocating for racial equality in education, employment, policing and more. They are currently setting up rallies and marches for Black lives throughout Austin.
Gas Masks for Activists
A UT alumnus is taking donations to order gas masks and hard hats for Austin protesters to remain safe from tear gas and rubber bullets during protests. According to the organizer’s Twitter, they have been able to order 70 full face gas masks so far.

UT NAACP Chapter
According to their social media accounts, UT’s National Association for the Advancement of Colored People promotes political, social, educational and economic equality. During this time, they are selling T-shirts made by the organization and donating 70% of the proceeds to memorial funds and groups supporting the Black community.
PROJECT ROAR: Rural Outreach Access and Resources
PROJECT ROAR was created to help people living in rural areas get access to legal aid, health care and other services, according to their GoFundMe page. Currently, they have expanded their fundraiser to provide bail funds, especially those in areas without community bail funds.
