As the spring semester hits its midpoint and the snow begins to disappear with every 40-plus degree day, March brings the undeniable Minnesotan urge to get out and about as the weather warms up. Let’s Talk About Sex: How a New Generation Navigates Hookups, Porn, Love and Consent seminar
Whether it be swiping through the infamous voice memos on Bumble profiles, flirting with a new love interest you’ve never met outside of your Twitter DMs or chatting with your long-term partner about creating a safe word in the bedroom, the world of sex and relationships has taken new turns over the past generation. Peggy Orenstein, a New York Times bestselling author and writer for both New York Times Magazine and AFAR, will be leading a hybrid conversation on March 3 about Gen Z’s dating and sex life. Community and solidarity mural workshop
The University is creating a new mural on campus and wants the Twin Cities community to be involved. Focused around the idea of community and solidarity, the workshop will be meeting in room 324 of Coffman Union on March 4 and will head to the mural location where each recipient will be given a 12 inch square of space to decorate. Dua Lipa at the Target Center
Dua Lipa will be heading to the Target Center on March 8 with her postponed Future Nostalgia tour. Her futuristic bubble-gum-sweet pop sound has landed Lipa on the top of pop charts, and her Grammy-winning album “Future Nostalgia” featuring radio hits including “Don’t Start Now,” “Levitating” and “Break My Heart” will be headline one of Minneapolis’s largest venues this month. Star party: Astronomy with Other Senses
Sure, you’ve seen stars through a telescope. But have you ever had the experience of hearing and feeling astronomical elements? Here’s your chance. From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on March 11, the Bell Museum will be leading a star party featuring some sounds and sights caught in our planetary neighborhood in the planetarium show “Audio Universe: Tour of the Solar System.” The party will also be offering telescopes to take a closer look at some deep space objects and some of NASA’s tactile panels will be set up to allow you to feel the universe. This is a free event but the Bell Museum requires registering for the event through Eventbrite. March 11 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Bell Museum, free, masks are required when looking through telescopes. Why Not at the 7th Street Entry
In honor of their new EP “VERY WHY NOT” released in February, the Minneapolis-based band is heading to First Avenue’s 7th Street Entry on March 13 for an EP release party. The genre-bending indie rock group is bringing the New York-based singer, Raffaella, and the Twin Cities-based experimental rapper, Huhroon, as special guests. “Hadestown” at the Orpheum
The Tony Award-winning Best Musical, Hadestown, will be performing on the Orpheum’s stage March 15 through March 20. Based around the combining of two mythic tales — Orpheus and Euridice and Hades and Persephone — “Hadestown” has won a total of eight Tony Awards since it first premiered in 2006. “The Boondock Saints” St. Patrick’s Day screening
What better way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day than by throwing on your favorite shamrock-covered T-shirt, heading over to the Parkway Theater and watching a movie about two Irish Catholic brothers who become vigilantes and wipe out Boston’s criminal underworld in the name of God? The ‘90s classic “Boondock Saints” will be playing exclusively on St. Patrick’s Day at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $9 and can be found online. March 17 at 8 p.m., Parkway Theater, $9. Vegan for Beginners Workshop

Alt-J and Portugal. The Man at the Armory
Alt-J and Portugal. The Man are coming to the Armory on March 20 with their The Event of the Millenium tour. Presented by The Current, the combination of Alt-J’s experimental indie rock sound and Portugal. The Man’s classic American rock and roll combination is destined to create a few mosh pits, offer some good throwback jams and have lots of hypnotic visuals. You can find tickets online. Encanto: The Drag Brunch
Flip Phone is returning with another drag brunch extravaganza — and this time, it’s “Encanto”-themed. Featuring Sasha Cassadine, Lady Crystal Belle, Priscilla Es Yuicy and Domita Sanchez, this event has two dates to offer double the amount of bottomless mimosas. On March 20 at CRAVE in downtown Minneapolis and again on March 23 at Union Rooftop in downtown Minneapolis, this all-ages event requires tickets and the purchase of an entree during the performance. Transformation: Art from The Inside
The Weisman Art Museum and the University’s Just Education Collaborative are bringing a pop-up exhibition of paintings, drawings, craftwork and sculptures created by artists living in Minnesota’s correctional facilities. Organized by Art From the Inside (AFTI) with the purpose of creating space for incarcerated artists to share their work and their voice, the pop-up exhibition will be located at the Weisman from March 23 – March 27 and is free to the community.
