By Eric Van Susteren

Seven people were injured in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of 10th and San Fernando at 4:03 p.m. said a San Jose Fire Department officer at the scene.

SJFD Public information Officer Chuck Rangel said all but one of the people involved in the accident were taken from the scene to receive medical attention.

The collision occurred after a California Highway Patrol officer attempted to stop Bernardino Cuevas, the driver of a black Honda Civic, said San Jose Police officer Jose Garcia.

Cuevas struck a red Mitsubishi Mirage when he ran a red light while attempting to flee east on San Fernando street, Garcia said.
Garcia said 15-year-old girl was ejected onto the road from the Mirage and suffered major injuries. The female driver and two other juvenile passengers received moderate injuries.
A female passenger in Cuevas’ car was also injured, Garcia said.
Garcia said Cuevas, who had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest, attempted to flee the scene before being arrested.
Cuevas was uninjured, but will receive a medical examination before being processed at the Santa Clara County jail, Garcia said.
