Woman sues Lehigh for $1.3 million dollars over a C+

If as midterms roll around you are crying into your ice cream about your academic performance, at least allow yourself a little bit of moral superiority over Megan Throde.Throde is a 27 year-old woman who sued her alma mater Lehigh University in Bethelhem, Pennsylvania over a C+ that she once got. Yep, that’s right, she sued them for $1.3 million dollars over potential lost earnings because of one grade. She purported that her grade impeded her from becoming a licensed therapist. While a Pennsylvania court threw out the case earlier today (which is a nice reassurance that the Justice system works even if people are crazy, right??) it doesn’t make this situation less nuts. The professor stood by the grade and stated that the student failed to behave professionally. Thode apparently often had emotional outbursts that included crying and swearing (which is probably not the behavior you want your state-employed counselor to be displaying anyway..). The student claims that she received her grade because of her vocal support of LGBTQ rights. This lawsuit joins a smattering of recent cases in which students are suing their alma maters over grading issues, though that is probably better than the cases in which Universities are suing their students over defaulting on loans…
