Passion Pit has been touring extensively in light of their latest album, “Gossamer,” released last July. This will be the first show the group has performed in Eugene since their 2010 show at the McDonald Theatre. Monday’s gig, however, is being set up on an entirely different level all together.

On playing large-scale, arena-sized shows, Ian Hultquist, keyboardist and guitarist for Passion Pit, said, “It allows us to bring our music to a much larger audience.”

He said fans in attendance at the Eugene show should expect “a lot of energy, a big sound and a lot of fun.” Moreover, over the course of the tour, the band has been perfecting its performances, and fans both new and old have been responding well to the shows.

“We’re getting better reactions to songs and every night is different,” he said.

As for their relationship with special guests Matt & Kim, Hultquist said, “We’ve known them for years — we used to go see them play. We’re happy to have them.”

Since its formation in 2007, the Passion Pit sound and aesthetic has transformed over the course of their two studio LPs and one EP.

“I think one of the biggest things is that we’ve all matured and grown up, but we’ve brought those experiences back to our music,” Hultquist said.

Tickets are currently on sale for the event; doors open at 6 p.m. and music starts at 7 p.m.
