A man has been arrested in connection with the slaying of a UH student.

Rodrick Mitchell, 36, is being accused of robbing and killing biology senior Hao Huynh, 22, in south Houston on Dec. 18, 2011.

Police said Huynh was returning home from a party when he was approached by Mitchell at the Catalina Village Apartments in the 3500 block of Dixie Drive.

At about 2:35 a.m., police responded to complaints about gunshots being fired in the area, and there they found Huynh dead from two bullet wounds, authorities said.

According to Houston Police Department Homicide Division Senior Police Officer R. Bolton, witnesses’ descriptions match Mitchell’s appearance, and DNA tests have revealed he was at the scene.

Mitchell was arrested March 26 and faces charges of capital murder.
