Typically, an election is held to determine a new editor-in-chief every two terms. Most ran unopposed and is already working to achieve certain objectives during her time as editor-in-chief. She’s confident in the current staff and its abilities, but said she wants to expand membership to bring new perspectives to the newspaper. She plans to film and produce short commercials to appeal to more visual or Internet-oriented students who will hopefully be interested in joining The Triangle and helping to bolster the budding video department, started by outgoing Editor-in-Chief Helen Nowotnik.

“I love working with people. I always have. … We’re all here as students; this is a learning experience for everyone. I want to see everyone work with each other in the most positive way possible,” Most said. “I’m just really, really excited to see where The Triangle’s going to go from here, how we’re going to grow.”

“Anne has a positive, bright personality, which is just what The Triangle is looking for in a leader. I am confident that she will inspire more talented writers to join our paper,” Nowotnik wrote in an email.

The editor-in-chief position has most recently been filled by staff members with backgrounds in news and newswriting, and Most hopes that her roots in arts and entertainment will help shift things around for the better. Instead of focusing solely on local restaurants and businesses that fund most of the paper’s operations for advertisements, she said she hopes to use relationships with public relations representatives, local theaters and bands to help raise advertising revenue.

“I feel like I’m bringing in a new perspective because I have an arts and entertainment background. … I want to use those connections to bring in revenue, to advertise and to connect The Triangle to the entertainment industry a little more,” Most said.

Most just finished a six-month co-op with Comcast, where she worked as the communications intern in the National Engineering and Technical Operations department. She plans to use what she learned at Comcast to help bolster her time as editor-in-chief. She explained the idea of “rich communication,” which is communicating internally in more than one way — not just through emails and newsletters, but also through video and radio. Most also worked with Comcast’s Project Acceleration, which aims to make employees work faster without sacrificing quality. She will integrate the lessons she learned at Comcast into her work as editor-in-chief.

“[At Comcast] I learned what it takes to manage such a large group of people efficiently. … If the staff isn’t happy, thriving and reaching the potential that it could, then [the newspaper] won’t be the best that it could be. But I know we have a staff capable of producing work that readers will enjoy, and they’ll get a lot out of it,” she explained.

Most, who has been involved with Drexel’s newspaper since the beginning of her freshman year, has dabbled in almost every section at The Triangle. Starting as a copy editor, Most edited and fact checked sports articles for a year. She also began writing for the arts & entertainment section, sticking mostly to album and film reviews. In the beginning of her sophomore year, she became part of the production night staff and learned news style — contributing a different kind of writing to the paper. She then served as entertainment editor starting in the spring of 2012 and joined the Editorial Board that summer.

“Anne has a great work ethic and is very reliable. She has held multiple positions in The Triangle and really cares about making the paper better. She is a good person and a great friend. I wish her all the luck in her new position,” Nowotnik wrote.

Most said that her dream job is to be an editor or writer for an entertainment publication — most notably Rolling Stone or Entertainment Weekly. She also mentioned that she’d love to write film reviews, visit movie sets or find some other way to integrate her love of films into her work.
