Letter: We support United Oregon candidates

With important issues such as the beginnings of an EMU renovation, campus safety concerns, and a student government that seems more focused on politics than getting stuff done – this is a very important year for students to make their voices heard.

Those of us who have signed this letter strongly urge that you take a minute out of your day to vote for the United Oregon candidates. We believe in this group of students and that they will bring big, positive changes for student life on our campus.

The United Oregon candidates come from many diverse political groups across campus, have a wide array of experience in student government, and care about accomplishing realistic goals. Goals such as increasing the Bike Loan program and bike infrastructure on campus, making STD testing free for all students, and supporting the Willamette River Environmental Remediation project for a new public green-space.

Most importantly, United Oregon stands as a group of students who will bridge the gap in a student government fraught with grievances and infighting that we as students are all tired of hearing about. Student government should be a positive experience for the students that participate in it, as well as an institution that delivers valuable results for the student body.

These are goals that will positively affect all of us as well as students for many years to come. As recognized student leaders from different organizations across campus, we firmly believe that a vote for United Oregon is a vote to ensure a better future for students at the University of Oregon. Please vote for United Oregon on Duckweb today!
