“As a community of scholars, we are committed to civility and welcoming all of our students. We are also committed to values of understanding, inclusion and mutual respect,” said a press release sent out to all students from the UO Office of Communications.

The announcement also reports no students or faculty were harmed during the incident, and students should continue to feel secure.

“We also want to add that such sad incidents go a long way to remind us of the importance of honoring and treasuring one another,” the email states. “We urge everyone to cooperate and act responsibly.”

“There has been vandalism like this in past years,” McIver said, “that have been clearly biased and were towards multicultural facilities. But there hasn’t been a similar incident like this in recent memory.”

If you have any information regarding the vandalism that occurred, call the UOPD non-emergency line at 541-346-2919.
