Fire in PCV apartment causes two-hour evacuation

A fire in Poly Canyon Village’s Corralitos apartment building displaced more than 400 students from their rooms until a little before 10 p.m. on Wednesday.

Firefighters and police responded to a call of a fire in Poly Canyon Village at 7:39 p.m., according to a Cal Poly press release. Approximately five fire trucks responded to the scene to fight the fire on the first floor of the building. According to the release, the fire was contained to one room after a sprinkler went off, and no students were injured.

Cal Poly President Jeffrey Armstrong made an appearance at the scene at approximately 8:30 p.m. to survey the damage.

Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the fire, and several are still on-sight to help with the clean-up.
