In the final round of the four-day, four-round event, high winds and difficult weather conditions plagued the Ducks final chance to move up in the standings as they dropped to 22nd place overall in the final team standings.

The Ducks (301-295-297-324-1217) carded a 36-over 324 in the harsh weather conditions this morning as they struggled to deal with rough playing conditions. Capturing the NCAA title was No. 1 ranked USC (284-276-285-288-1133) who set a new NCAA record for their -12 under second round a couple days back. Following USC were  No. 2 Duke (286-289-287-292-1154) finishing in second place and No. 7 Purdue (289-289-295-300-1173) rounding out the third spot. Both teams were at least 21 strokes behind No. 1 USC as the Trojans proved why they deserved the best overall ranking.

Pacing the Ducks in the fourth round was senior Hanule Sky (79-72-73-76-300) who finished in a tie for 48th place after posting the best overall round for the Ducks this morning. Following Sky was sophomore Cassy Isagawa (75-71-70-78-294) who finished in a tie for 23rd place after dropping a couple spots from the third round. Rounding out the Ducks were freshman Caroline Inglis (74-77-77-83-311), sophomore Cali Hipp (76-75-77-90-318) and senior Avery Sills (76-79-84-87-326).

No. 2 ranked Annie Park of USC (70-67-70-71-278) brought home the individual honors after maintaining her top rank through the NCAA Championships. Following Park were No. 3 Lindy Duncan (72-71-71-70-284) of Duke in second place and No. 9 Paula Reto (71-73-70-72-286) of Purdue in third.

On the horizon: Despite a disappointing end to the NCAA Championships, the Ducks had a great overall season and should look forward to returning a lot of their top players in Isagawa, Hipp and Inglis. The 2013 season may have come to a close, but the window for improvement is still very much open to next year’s team.
