The first round of NCAA West Preliminary Track and Field kicks off Thursday afternoon as the Ducks will feature 27 athletes on the men’s side and 18 athletes on the women’s side.

Although today will only mark the first round of the preliminary, many runners will approach this afternoon with a finals mentality, as they all vie for a top-12 finish in their respective field. Among those runners will be all-American middle distance runner Becca Friday, who will come into the race as if it were the final round.

As a respected senior runner, she understands the importance of having a good start and will attempt to lead her team to the NCAA Nationals in the following weeks.

Former Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Anquan Boldin was recently acquired by the 49ers and should provide as a temporary replacement until Crabtree’s return.
