Najee Glass, Hugh Graham Jr., Dedric Dukes and Arman Hall of Florida took the NCAA title in the men’s 4×400 today at Hayward Field.
After powerhouse Texas A&M dropped their baton within seconds of the race and was disqualified, Florida took to a steady pace and led the majority of the race.
Florida not only took first place, but earned the fastest colligate time of the year, finishing in 3:01.34.
After the prelims Florida stated that going into the finals they were only going to focus on themselves.
Going into the prelims, Florida sprinter Glass said, “I mean it doesn’t really phase us because we know when they come to face us we’re not going to back down. That (3:02.35) don’t phase us at all because we’re going to run faster.”
Arkansas took second in 3:02.89, making their total team points 46.5 and solidifying their third-place finish in the overall team standings.
The men of Oregon finished third with a time of 3:03.61.
However, Texas A&M’s mishap and Florida’s strong race led to both teams tying for the men’s national championship.
