Wayne Davis II of Texas A&M finished first in the men’s 110-meter hurdles today, earning an NCAA national title.
The junior from Raleigh, North Carolina, was perfect over each hurdle, finishing the race with a time of 13.14.
Davis said visualizing the race was key to his success today.
“I visualized the race literally a hundred times,” Davis said. “I put tick marks for every time I visualized the race. So I knew that once I stepped on the track I had the race.”
Florida’s Eddie Lovett placed second in 13.32 and Clemson’s Spencer Adams finished right behind in third with a time of 13.34.
The race was close, but Davis appeared to have an extra hope against his competitors and was able to take home the win.
“It was definitely one of the most nerve-racking races because I knew I had a good chance to win and compete with these guys,” he said.
Davis stated he is looking forward to his future competition.
“I am just looking forward to World Championships since my trial is coming up next week,” he said.
