Oregon women’s lacrosse announces its 2014 recruiting class

Oregon women’s lacrosse head coach Jen Larsen Beck has been busy as of late as she prepares for the upcoming season. After finishing last season with a mediocre 8-9 record, Oregon lacrosse will have much room for improvement and it will all start with the upcoming 2014 recruiting class. Coach Beck has already signed eight new freshmen for next season and they all contain impressive resumes.

Janelle Parker: Goalie (Danvers High School/The Williston Northampton School/Synergy Lacrosse Club)

Among the most recent recruits is Janelle Parker of Danvers High School in Danvers, Mass., who played goalie for The Williston Northampton School and Synergy Lacrosse Club. As a four-year starter, Parker won the team MVP three consecutive years (2008-2011), captured three Northeastern Conference championships while at Danvers, was a Salem News first team All-Star player during her tenure and was also awarded the title of NEC Most Valuable Player as both a sophomore and a junior. Parker is among the top recruits of the 2014 class and will have high expectations entering as a freshman.

Anne Longtain: Midfield (West Linn High School/Oregon Elite Lacrosse Club)

Attending West Linn High School in nearby West Linn, Ore. and playing with the Oregon Elite Lacrosse Club, Anne Longtain had herself a successful four year tenure. Aside from leading her team to a third-place finish in the 2011 Oregon State Tournament, a runner-up finish in 2012 and state title in 2013, Longtain also earned second team All-League first team in 2012 along with an All-State selection and an All-American Honorable Mention pick in 2013. She is one of six midfielders in the 2014 recruiting class.

Isabella Pyne: Midfield (South River High School/Chesapeake Club Lacrosse)

As a four-year letterwinner, Isabella Pyne led South River High School to its first ever state title in 2010. In addition to a state title, Pyne was named first team All-County and second team Washington Post All-Metro as a senior after being named first team All-County in both Coaches and Capital categories and honorable mention All-Metro selection the previous year.

Rachel Steinburg: Midfield (Severn School/ Chesapeake Club Lacrosse)

As a four-year letterwinner at Severn High School in Millersville, MD., Rachel Steignburg led her team in ground balls, draw controls and caused turnovers during her senior year. Steinburg was named an Under Armour All-American and Maximum Exposure All-Star while also being a member of the National Honor Society.

Kathryn Blumhardt: Midfield (Regis Jesuit High School/Team 180)

As a freshman, Kanthryn Blumhardt earned an honorable mention all-league selection and led her team in draw controls and ground balls in the following season. A team captain her junior year, Blumhardt earned first team All-Conference Accolades along with leading her team in ground balls and draw controls. Last spring, Blumhardt played with the well-acclaimed Fellowship of Christian Athletes High School National Team. In her final season, Blumhardt was named first team All-State, first team All-League, an All-City selection, an Honorable Mention All-American pick as well as being an Academic All-American while being a member of the National Honor Society.

Becca Katzen: Goalie (Dulaney High School/SkyWalkers Lacrosse Club)

Aside from being a member of the National Science Honor Society and the National Art Honor Society, Becca Katzen split time between two other goalies at Dulaney High School in Cokeysville, Md. and held a solid .590 save percentage.

Erin Schilmoeller: Midfield (Regis Jesuit High School/Team 180)

As a four-year letterwinner, Erin Scholmoeller earned first team U.S. Lacrosse Academic All-American honors in 2012 while also pouring in second team All-League accolades, only a year after being named first team All-League. Aside from Lacrosse, Schilmoeller was a member of the National Honor Society and also earned four varsity cross country letters at Regis Jesuit.

Kiki Gibson: Midfield (La Costa Canyon High School/West Coast Starz Lacrosse Club)

As a four-year letterwinner, Kiki Gibson had one of the more impressive high school careers of the 2014 recruiting class. Aside from being named a U.S. Lacrosse High School All-American, Gibson led La Costa Canyon High School to a California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) San Diego Division I championship in 2012. As a freshman and sophomore, she received All-CIF (San Diego) honors along with three All-Academic selections. In 2013, Gibson poured in a U.S. Lacrosse Academic All-American pick, first team All-CIF ,first team All-League and first team All-Academic selection, while also being a participant at the U.S. Lacrosse All-American Tournament in Orlando, Fla. this past year.
