Tuinei, the former Rose Bowl offensive player of the game in 2011, originally signed an un-drafted free agent deal with the Seattle Seahawks, playing on the team’s practice squad for the duration of his first professional season. After being cut from Seattle, Tuinei spent time with the Dallas Cowboys and Cincinnati Bengals before arriving in Foxboro.

The wide receiver position for the Patriots is currently in a state of flux. Wes Welker left earlier this offseason to join Peyton Manning in Denver, while the teams other major offensive weapons, Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez, are injured and currently in custody, respectively. The signing of Tuinei makes him the 11th receiver on the roster adding another player to an already crowded search for the next pass-catcher to Tom Brady.
