The season kicked off with the Ducks annual green vs. yellow intrasquad scrimmage Saturday night.

The best-of-five match saw the white team, led by All-Americans Liz Brenner and Lauren Plum, pull out the victory, three sets to one.
Plum dished out 27 assists with 11 going for kills by Brenner. Bethany Bair also tied the team-high 11 kills to help propel the white team to victory.

Sophomore outside hitter Martenne Bettendorf was the star of the match, leading the green team with a match-high 26 kills. The sophomore from Portland also contributed four blocks.

Junior transfer Serena Warner from Ohio University notched a match-high six blocks to go along with her seven kills as a middle. Shellsy Ashen recorded a match-high 29 assists for the green team in the losing effort.

While the green team had the better individual stats, the white team was able to seize control of the match by spreading the ball all over the court.

Oregon has one more exhibition match, an Alumni game at 7 p.m. at Matthew Knight Arena, before they host the Oregon Classic.

The Classic is a two-day event, Aug. 30 and 31, at Matthew Knight Arena and will feature the Ducks, Eastern Washington University, Ohio University and Bryant University.

The Ducks return four starters on offense while being ranked No. 8 in the country, the highest ranking to start a season in Oregon history.
