The perfect recipe for none other than the Fountain on Locust’s second annual Scooperbowl! Ice cream aficionados, grab your spoons and bring your appetite to watch it all go down this Sunday, Sept. 15th from 3 p.m. – 4 p.m.

A $5 suggested donations will be accepted at the door for Doorways, a St. Louis-based organization that provides affordable, secure housing and services for people living with HIV/AIDS.

A limo of dancing ladies will arrive at the Fountain to jump-start the jamboree.  Complete with fire eating, the excitement never ends!

The Fountain’s very own Ice Cream Captains (Allie Vogler, Billy Watts, Eli Chi and Willow Pastard) will compete in the following categories: “Tower of Terror – tallest ice cream cone,” “Most World’s Smallest in a Minute,”  “Free style – Most Artistic Creation” and “Most beautiful Banana Split.” Vogler is feeling most confident about the latter category saying, “No doubt, that’s mine.“  The competitor who scoops the fastest and most precisely will be awarded the Scooperbowl title. Competition will be FIERCE!

The competition is comprised of veteran ICCs, as well as some newbies and local celebrities. Last year a few SLU students were even in the running. The best part about this intense competition is that all these delicious ice cream concoctions will be shared with the crowd. There will be prizes, too. According to general manager Barb Schulz, “The second annual Scooperbowl will be an exciting event for everyone to attend!“

Drink specials will also be featured. If you’re of age and you’ve never had one the Fountain’s Ice Cream Martinis, you’re in for a treat. These adulterated ice creams are the perfect kick off to a night on the town, or midday sweet tooth-satisfier. They’ll make you feel like a kid again.

That’s what the Fountain is all about: nostalgia. Walking through the door at the Fountain on Locust, you’ll think it’s 1931. The checkered floors and the front-and-center counter lined with barstools make this midtown marvel a classic soda fountain. With the art-deco murals and the award-winning bathrooms it’s no wonder this place is the most photographed restaurant in St. Louis.

Stop by the Fountain on Sunday. Make some new memories, feeling like you’re in the “good ol’ days.” Enjoy dairy delights and an antique atmosphere. Help cheer a scooper on to victory!
