Free entertainment and a few good brews are sure to attract a crowd Saturday for the 2013 Common Ground Plaza-Midwood Music & Arts Festival.

Local artists and businesses will line the streets showcasing their products and services. The festival features area acts such as The Loose Lugnuts, Not Yet, Overmountain Men, The Mike Strauss Band, The Troublesome Youngs and Sol Driven Train.

Attendees are also invited to support resident breweries in a blind taste testing. Comparing the likes of Birdsong Brewing Company, NoDa Brewing Company, Natty Greene’s Brewing Co., Triple C Brewing Co., and The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery

Celebrating community, local music, area artists, and craft beer, the Common Ground Festival returns for a second year of fun.

This year Common Ground has partnered with The Dublin Dog Foundation to raise money and promote the use of dogs in therapeutic and service roles.

Festivities will continue at the events after party, Petra’s will be keeping the celebration going with DJ Brad Pressley and DJ Chris Ward.

The festival will take place  September 14 on Commonwealth Avenue from Gordon Street to Thomas Avenue in Plaza-Midwood.

Admission is free and the music starts at noon.

If the buzz from the brews doesn’t get you, perhaps the spirit of charity will.
