The good, the bad, the ugly: History made in Alabama football game

With the addition of Young, the Ducks go from being a good contender for the Pac-12 Championship to a great one. UNLV transfer Mike Moser looks to add depth to Oregon’s front court while Young, Johnathan Loyd, Damyean Dotson and Dominic Artis make up arguably the best backcourt in the Pac-12.
* On a small field in Birmingham, Ala. on Thursday night, history was made in the college football world. For the first time in NCAA history, an officiating crew was made up of mostly women. The game between Miles College and Lane College, which featured four female referee’s and three male referee’s, was a Division II game. The NFL’s Director of Officiating David Coleman, Director of Recruiting Ron Baynes and regional scout Bob Shoulders were in attendance.

BAD:
* Colt Lyerla, Oregon’s former tight end, was released from the Lane County Jail on Thursday evening after spending one night in jail stemming from his arrest Wednesday night for cocaine possession and interfering with a police officer. Lyerla will appear in court again on Oct. 28 for his evaluation from the county’s drug court treatment program. If he completes the aforementioned program, both of his charges will be dropped. Lyerla has been making headlines since he stepped onto Oregon’s campus as a true freshman three years ago. Whether it was for his stellar athletic play, tweeting about government conspiracy’s or leaving the football program, he was seemingly always in the news. The 20-year-old is going to try to take his talents to the NFL now that he’s no longer with the Ducks.
* Beleaguered NBA player Royce White is a free agent after he was released by the Philadelphia 76ers. White, the former college star from Iowa State, made national news last year when he refused to suit up for the Houston Rockets because of his anxiety disorder that includes fear of flying. White openly criticized the NBA, the Rockets and fans who gave him flack for not playing.

UGLY:
* ESPN’s College GameDay will take place at 6 a.m. on Oregon’s campus and fans are predicted to be standing in line to get a close spot sometime around 10 p.m. tonight. But the show itself is not the ugly part. it’s being up at 6 a.m. to watch TV on a Saturday or standing in line all night through 38-degree weather that doesn’t sound pleasant. This will be the fifth time Oregon has hosted GameDay in the past five years, the most in college football in that span. Kirk Herbstreit, Chris Fowler and Lee Corso will take the stage on ESPN.
* Cordell Broadus, Snoop Lion’s son, was suspended for one-game by the California Interscholastic Federation for his role in a brawl between his Diamond Bar High School and Diamond Ranch High School last Friday night. With three minutes left in the fourth quarter of the game, a brawl broke out between both teams and Broadus can be seen on video throwing a right punch at an opponent. Broadus is ranked the No. 50 prospect in the country by 247sports and No. 3 junior receiver in the country. He currently holds scholarships from Notre Dame, USC and UCLA and is considered to be favoring the Trojans as of now.
