Andrew Rich built the shed himself. Inside he runs the golf course, sells snacks, discs and clothes that he has designed. He maintains the park with a riding lawn mover, and without him the park would have never existed. With the help of 40 volunteers, Rich cleared out the 14 acre section of the park previously inhabited by illegal campers and garbage. For Rich, this course is a true passion project. In addition to being the course caretaker, Rich is a professional disc golfer who has been on the tournament circuit since he graduated from school. Rich has traveled the country playing against the best in the game, but the tournament lifestyle can be tough.
“It can really grind on the body and the mind,” Rich said. Ever since he could throw a disc Rich has been addicted to the game. He has it in his blood and on his body, with a tattoo of a disc golf basket proudly displayed on his calf. Rich’s love of the sport can be seen in the course that he has built. It is affordable, fun and challenging. His eye is always on the future with hopes to expand and enhance the course for a better experience.
