The final day of the 2014 USATF Outdoor Championships came to a conclusion Sunday afternoon in Sacramento, Calif. with multiple events crowning champions.

It was Oregon senior Laura Roesler who had the best performance of the day for someone competing in a Ducks uniform. Roesler competed as part of a competitive women’s 800, holding her own with an impressive showing.

Roesler ended up with a sub-two minute time (1:59.04), something she has been working toward all season, and finished in second place behind Ajee Wilson of Adidas.

Roesler’s final time puts her in the history books. She ran the second fastest 800 in Oregon history, a mark that stands because Roesler was still wearing the ‘O’ on her chest while competing. Roesler is also now the fourth fastest collegian all-time in the event, when you include performances from outside the collegiate season.

Several other current and former Duck athletes joined Roesler in celebration after their performances at the meet.

Oregon dual-sport freshman Devon Allen had a photo finish in the men’s 110 hurdles. Allen sprinted to the end alongside unattached runner Ryan Wilson, with both seeming to cross the line at the exact same time. Upon further review it was shown that Allen (13.155) barely edged out Wilson (13.160) for the victory.

This is now Allen’s second major victory in this event after he took home the NCAA Championship in Eugene earlier this year.

Former Duck middle-distance runner Elijah Greer finished fourth in the men’s 800 (1:48.45). Greer was running for Nike/Oregon TC Elite at the meet.
