Houston’s Case Keenum to receive sixth year of eligibility

By John Brannen

Christmas came 20 days late for the U. Houston community.

UH will hold a press conference at 3:30 p.m. today, where it is expected to announce that quarterback Case Keenum has been granted a sixth season of eligibility by the NCAA.

Keenum tore his right anterior cruciate ligament in a Sept. 18 loss to UCLA after attempting to tackle UCLA linebacker Akeem Ayers, who had just intercepted a pass.

The announcement is appropriately timed, as the deadline to apply for the NFL draft is tomorrow.
