Daily Cal named 1 of top college newspapers in California

The Daily Californian was honored Saturday with 21 awards for its work in 2014 by the California College Media Association, including 11 first-place awards.

The Daily Cal placed first in all three news content categories, including winning best breaking news story, best nonbreaking news story and best feature story. In addition, we also won first place for best sports story and best sports photography.

Our growing online presence was recognized by our first-place win once again for best blog and our first-place awards for best interactive graphic and best audio slideshow. This was also the first year that the Weekender, our online magazine, was eligible for awards, and we were excited to receive first place for best magazine column.

Thank you for the continued engagement and support. Without you, our readers, none of this would be possible. Thank you for choosing to pick up our paper, read our articles and contribute to our discussions. If you have any thoughts for how we can better serve you, please email me at editor@dailycal.org.
