Passion Pit, Blondie, Run the Jewels and Weezer are among the big names performing this weekend at the Project Pabst music festival in Portland.
Saturday’s lineup includes Against Me!, Thee Oh Sees, TV On the Radio, Run the Jewels, and Blondie, while The Both (Aimee Mann and Ted Leo), Buzzcocks, Passion Pit and Weezer will play on Sunday. A complete line-up can be found on the Project Pabst site.
Project Pabst runs from July 17-19 in Southwest Portland’s Zidell Yards (3030 SW Moody Ave.), between Tilikum Crossings and the Ross Island Bridge. Night shows will occur in venues around Portland, beginning July 17.
Single-day ($40 for either Saturday or Sunday) and two-day tickets ($75) are still for sale on the website.
There will be several PBR-themed activities at the fair, include the PBRcade dive bar, featuring pinball machines and arcade games (including 8-bit wonders Nibbler and Pac-Man). Pabst VANdalism – what the website describes as “an experiment in mobile creativity” – is a van parked onsite at the fairgrounds for you to indulge your vandalism impulses. “It’s a good thing you have two hands,” the website reads, “grab a beer and a spray can and go to town.”
Food vendors will include the new PBR-B-Q, a barbecue joint that will serve dishes from prolific Portland eateries Bunk Sandwiches and Reverend’s BBQ.
Atlas Pizza, Boke Bowl, Fifty Licks Ice Cream, Olympic Provisions, and Slowburger are among the festival’s other Portland-based bites. Fifty Licks Ice Cream will serve up alcoholic Not Your Father’s Root Beer Floats. Pabst Blue Ribbon will ostensibly also be served.
Night shows (independently priced) will take over several venues around town, including the Crystal Ballroom, Mississippi Studios, Dante’s, and Doug Fir Lounge.
Comedians Brian Posehn, Bryan Cook and Sean Jordan are scheduled to go on stage this Thursday at the Doug Fir Lounge (830 E Burnside St). Tickets are $20.
Portland’s psych-rock band The Shivas will open for Seattle pop-punk outfit Chastity Belt and garage punk trio Shannon and the Clams at the Doug Fir on Saturday ($12).
BADBADNOTGOOD and Ghostface Killah are touring in promotion for their collaborative release Sour Soul, which came out earlier this year. Del The Funky Homosapien will open the set at the Crystal Ballroom (1332 W Burnside St., $22).
