A tradition is taking form for the Cougars, and with the addition of Tom Herman, the event promises to be a big one.
The second-annual Cage Rage is set to take place Sept. 3 inside TDECU Stadium.
The Cougars will unveil a soon-to-be tradition in the form of a pre-game routine, which they will conduct every home game in front of the student section.
Students are encouraged to come out to the event to spark excitement for the upcoming football season.
The evening kicks off as members of The Spirit of Houston band will lead students from their respective residence halls to the stadium at 5:45 p.m.
Gates to the stadium will open at 6 p.m., with students entering through gate 2 and proceeding into the stands.
The event will consist of talks from UH Chancellor Renu Khator, Herman and the team captains, Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Hunter Yurachek and SGA President Shaun Theriot-Smith, followed by an autograph session with Herman and members of the football team, and a performance by the Spirit of Houston.
There will also be free t-shirts presented to the first 1,000 students at the autograph session.
Cage Rage debuted last season, coinciding with the opening of TDECU Stadium, hosted by SGA in an effort to start a new tradition and encourage fan excitement.
