Oregon, which routed Stanford 69-52, went 11-of-25 from behind the arc with five players recording 3-pointers. Playing without Dillon Brooks, the Ducks needed players to step up regardless of Oregon’s odds against the visitors.

The guards delivered with a 3-point barrage.

“I feel like everyone knows if we lose one guy we still gotta play,” Chris Boucher said. “And everybody gotta step up. We know that Dillon’s a big part of the team so when we lose somebody like that we bring more to the table.”

The Ducks went down 5-0 early in the game but sparked an 11-point comeback, never trailing again. Of the 11 points, nine were from 3-pointers from three separate players.

Of the five Ducks who found form from 3-point range, four of them made multiple triples. Four players finished the game with double-digit points, and three of them had made multiple 3-pointers.

“There were some good things,” head coach Dana Altman said. “We started the game really shooting the ball really making plays for each other.”

Dylan Ennis scored three of his four 3-point attempts and finished the game with 15 points, one point behind game-leading Boucher at 16 points. Ennis and Boucher stepped up in the absence of Brooks, which Casey Benson and Tyler Dorsey mentioned following the win over Cal.

“It’s going to hurt losing Dillon [Brooks]. He’s our leader, our best player, best player in the country to me,” Pritchard said. “So obviously we need to find other ways to make up for that because Dillon’s really tough. He brings that toughness and that’s a big part of what we need to make up for.”

The 44 percent 3-point shooting from Oregon bested Stanford as the Cardinal could not handle the fast-paced ball movement of the Ducks.

The Ducks had a fast transition combined with speedy passing to make players open for shots. Strong defensive work in the paint and around the rim created turnarounds for the Ducks to the other end of the court.

“We’ve got the best shot blockers in the country with Jordan [Bell], Chris and Kavell [Bigby-Williams],” Pritchard said. “Us guards, we really have to pressure them and take away easy threes and easy low 15-footers and if we do that then the rest will take care of itself.”

The guards were not only shooting and spreading the court well but Pritchard went to work in the paint.

“I thought Payton did a good job,” Altman said. “Seven assists and one turnover and I like the eight rebounds.”

Altman, though, continues to push his team forward.

“We’ve got a long ways to go and we’ve got to get a lot better,” Altman said.
