The Oregon women’s basketball team announced Wednesday morning it will host Connecticut, Michigan State and Oklahoma next season at Matthew Knight Arena in celebration of Phil Knight’s 80th birthday.

The four teams will play a one-day doubleheader on Saturday, Nov. 25. The Ducks will play Oklahoma in just the second meeting between the two programs in history. UConn will play Michigan State. All four are Nike-backed teams.

“We’re honored to be a part of the celebration for Phil Knight,” head coach Kelly Graves said in a news release. “He has done so much for our university, our state and the game of basketball. It’s an amazing opportunity for our fans to see some really great competition and I’m very excited to be playing in it.”

UConn, winner of four consecutive national titles, has won 94 consecutive games. Both Oklahoma and Michigan State made the NCAA Tournament last year.

UConn visited Eugene in 2012 as part of a home-and-home series. The Ducks will travel to Michigan State during the 2017-18 season; the Spartans visited Eugene earlier this season.

“I am already looking forward to competing in the Phil Knight Invitational out in Oregon next November,” UConn coach Geno Auriemma said. “Eugene is a beautiful town and Matt Knight Arena is one of the most impressive facilities that I have ever set foot in. It will be a great experience for us to play a quality opponent like Michigan State so far from home in what will surely be a first class event.”

The one-day event is set to coincide with the PK80 men’s basketball invitational taking place in Portland on Thursday, Friday and Sunday. Oregon will sell tickets through its ticket office; more information is expected in the future.
