Keck School of Medicine of USC workers are holding an informational picket Wednesday to draw attention to the ongoing negotiations between USC and Keck workers who are unionized under the National Union of Healthcare Workers.

Workers are picketing at the Keck Hospital of USC from 6 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. and from 10:30 a.m. until 3 p.m., according to a press release published June 4. They will also hold a rally from 11:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.

A previous statement released by the union on May 20 indicated that pickets would also be occurring at various points during the day at the Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center and Keck’s building in Beverly Hills.

“Pickets can be common during contract negotiations, and we fully respect our caregivers’ right to participate. During the picket, our locations will be fully staffed, and patients and their loved ones can continue to count on the world-class care they expect from Keck Medicine of USC,” Keck wrote in a statement to the Daily Trojan on June 3.

Workers want issues around understaffing, affordable health care and wage increases to be addressed, according to a statement from NUHW June 4. Bargaining has been underway for four months.
